The Venue

Blending rustic character with modern details, the venue is comprised of four seamlessly linked areas – the Stables, the Courtyard, the Granary and the Lambing Shed.

The Stables

This unique area was once stabling for the farm’s working horses. After careful restoration it is now an elegant Ceremony Room. With original, wonky timbers and brickwork all beautifully lit, it has become the perfect place for the most precious part of your day.

The Granary

Built in 1863, the Granary is the oldest part of Woolas Barn. With authentic barn doors and a stunning double-height ceiling entrance, this is the social hub of the venue. Featuring a rustic bar, reception area and most importantly space to strut your stuff when the music starts. Upstairs lie two cosy snugs providing the perfect place to enjoy a chat with old friends over a cocktail or two!

The Lambing Shed

Gone are the days of using this area for nursing cute little lambs. The Lambing Shed now boasts a striking vaulted ceiling and glass doors providing views across the Courtyard and beyond. With traditional Yorkshire boarding and exposed brickwork throughout it’s the quintessential blend of rustic charm and natural warmth, with space for up to 130 of your closest friends and family to dine.

The Courtyard

A large, open outside area with easterly views across the fields to the historic City of York. Perfect for enjoying toasting marshmallows on the firepit after the sun goes down, or just soaking up the serenity of the Yorkshire countryside.

Our History

Woolas Barn sits at the heart of 500 acres of beautiful Yorkshire pasture and arable farmland. But it’s not just a farm; we’ve been proud to call this home for three generations.

You’ll find the buildings are peppered with unique marks from a distant past, be it names of German Prisoners of War or railways sleepers liberated by previous farmers that ran the farm before our family acquired it after the Second World War.
